Medical FAQ

Medical Cannabis Card in Nevada: Your Questions Answered

Who can get a medical cannabis card in Nevada?

You must be a full-time Nevada resident and at least 18 years old. A minor can also register if a parent or legal guardian is designated as their primary caregiver.

Patients register with the Division of Public and Behavioral Health’s Medical Cannabis Registry (MMR).

What conditions qualify?

You need a chronic or debilitating medical condition. This includes acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS), cancer, glaucoma, or a condition (or its treatment) that produces one or more of the following in a specific patient:

  • An anxiety disorder
  • An autism spectrum disorder
  • An autoimmune disease
  • Anorexia nervosa
  • Dependence upon or addiction to opioids
  • Cachexia
  • Muscle spasms, including spasms caused by multiple sclerosis
  • Seizures, including seizures caused by epilepsy
  • Nausea
  • Severe or chronic pain
  • HIV and any medical condition related to HIV
  • A neuropathic condition, whether or not it causes seizures

Any other condition also qualifies if the Division classifies it as chronic or debilitating by regulation, or if it is approved through a petition under NRS 678C.810.

How do I apply?

Request a Medical Cannabis Registry Application packet from the Division, then meet with your Nevada-licensed physician. The physician completes a portion of the application and provides a recommendation confirming that you have a qualifying condition.

Visit the Nevada Department of Public and Behavioral Health’s Medical Cannabis Registry

What kind of doctor can sign my application?

Only a Nevada-licensed M.D. or D.O. can complete the physician section of the application and provide the recommendation.

Where can I read the Nevada law on medical cannabis?

Medical use of cannabis is covered in Chapter 678C of the Nevada Revised Statutes.
